HC Deb 16 September 1893 vol 17 c1406
MR. LODER (Brighton)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can state what proportions of the sums allocated to the London County Council in the last three years under "The Local Taxation (Customs and Excise) Act, 1890," have been made use of for the furtherance of technical instruction?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. H. H. FOWLER,) Wolverhampton, E.

According to the Return to which I referred yesterday, the London County Council in 1892–3 appropriated £30,000 for technical education, and in the present year the sum so appropriated by them is £57,000. The residue paid to the County Council under the Local Taxation (Customs and Excise) Act, 1890, in the year 1892–3 was £172,000, and the sum payable in respect of the present year will probably be about the same amount.
