THOMAS (Merthyr Tydvil)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can state the reason for the delay in 1704 holding an inquiry for the purpose of sanctioning the loan applied for by the Mountain Ash Local Board on 18th April last; and when the necessary inquiry is likely to be held?

FOWLEK,) Wolverhampton, E.The application made by the Local Board on the 18th of April last had reference to a scheme in connection with which powers of compulsory land purchase were required, and could not be dealt with until the Provisional Order conferring those powers had been confirmed by Parliament. The confirmation of the Order took place on the 27th July. Arrangements have been made for holding the inquiry on the 14th of this month.
