HC Deb 30 November 1893 vol 19 c97
MR. MACDONA (Bermondsey, Rotherhithe)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the increase of suicides from carbolic acid, he will instruct the coroners under his control, in their Returns, to state on the certificates which they send to the Home Office the name of the poison by which the suicide was effected, with a view to attracting public attention to the matter?

MR. ASQUITH

I have considered this matter, and see no sufficient reason for the adoption of the hon. Member's proposal.
