HC Deb 21 November 1893 vol 18 c1373
MR. ARNOLD-FORSTER (Belfast, W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the United States Government has overcome the difficulties connected with the destruction of derelict wrecks, and has ordered the U.S.S. Kearsage to undertake the work of discovering and blowing up such wrecks; and whether, in view of the orders given to the Kearsage, be will use his influence with the Admiralty to induce them to detach a British warship to co-operate with the United States vessel?

MR. MUNDELLA

The Board of Trade have received no information of the action which the hon. Member states has been taken by the United States Government. On the general subject of the removal of derelict vessels from ocean routes, I can add nothing to the reply which I gave last night to the hon. Member for Rotherhithe. I will take the necessary steps to ascertain what is being done by the United States Government.
