HC Deb 06 November 1893 vol 18 c228
MR. MAGUIRE

On behalf of my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Waterford, I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, in view of the widespread anxiety existing in Ireland on the question of the evicted tenants, the Government will reconsider their decision not to introduce a Bill dealing with the matter during the present Session; and whether, if they cannot see their way to deal fully and effectively with the whole question this year, he will consider the possibility of proposing some temporary measure based on the 13th clause of the Land Purchase Act of 1891, supplemented by provisions for compulsory settlements?

MR. W. E. GLADSTONE

I think it will be more convenient to embrace the answer to this question in the statement I have to make shortly.
