HC Deb 11 March 1893 vol 9 c1703
COLONEL LOYD (Chatham)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty if it is a fact that when the Royal Marines are at sea their officers are not allowed to sit on Courts Martial for the trial of their own men; and, if so, would he explain on what grounds?

SIR U. KAY-SHUTTLEWORTH

; The hon. and gallant Member was good enough to write me a letter on this subject, and it has been referred to the proper quarter in the Admiralty, whose opinion has not yet reached me.

VISCOUNT CRANBORNE

When does the right hon. Gentleman think it probable he will be able to answer the question?

SIR U. KAY-SHUTTLEWORTH

I expect the information every moment.
