I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is now in a position to state from what date the increase of pay to be granted to colonels on half-pay will take effect?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

The additional pay to lieutenant-colonels referred to will, as I have already informed the House, date from the commencement of the present financial year.

When is it likely the warrant will be issued to give effect to this decision?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

There has been some delay, but I have no doubt it will be issued very soon.
