§ MR. CHAPLINI beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can say whether the Report of the Commission on Indian Currency has yet been completed; and if he is now able to name a time within which the Government will be able to lay it upon the Table?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir W. HARCOURT,) DerbyI understand that the Report of the Commission was signed yesterday. It will be necessary to obtain the opinion of the Indian Government upon it, but no time will be lost, either by the Indian Government or by Her Majesty's Government, in coming to a decision upon that point.
§ MR. CHAPLINI assume that the Report will be laid on the Table before any action is taken in the matter?
§ SIR W. HARCOURTI believe so, but I cannot say definitely.
§ SIR W. HOULDSWORTH (Manchester, N.W.)Is the statement correct in the newspapers that the Report is unanimous?
§ SIR W. HARCOURTI cannot answer for any statements in the newspapers.
