HC Deb 10 July 1893 vol 14 c1139
MR. J. E. ELLIS (Nottinghan, Ruschcliffe)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether a proposal has been received from the Danish Government for the meeting of a Conference with a view of dealing with the International trade that now exists in adulterated butter; and what course the Government propose to take in the matter?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir E. GREY, Northumberland, Berwick)

The Danish Government have made such a proposal, and after consultation with the various Departments concerned a reply has been returned to the effect that Her Majesty's Government would not feel justified in taking the initiative in the International action proposed, but will be glad to consider any further practical suggestions which the Danish Government may have to make.

MR. J. E. ELLIS

Will the Papers be laid on the Table of the House?

SIR E. GREY

It will be necessary to consult other Departments first.
