HC Deb 03 July 1893 vol 14 cc675-6
COLONEL WARING (Down, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is proposed to give armament pay to Adjutants of Artillery, Militia, and Volunteers; and, if so, whether the grant will be retrospective to the beginning of the financial year; if not, whether it is a fact that there is great difficulty in obtaining Artillery Officers willing to take these appointments, the reason being the withholding of armament pay?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

The pay of these officers has recently been specially increased, and there is no reason to suppose that officers will not be forthcoming for the discharge of the duties required. It is not intended, to grant armament pay in addition.
