HC Deb 28 February 1893 vol 9 c559
DR. AMBROSE (Louth, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the fact that £19,251 has been expended on the construction of a pier at Clogher Head, County Louth, contributed partly by the locality and partly by the Treasury, and that, owing to deviations from the original plans approved of by the Board of Works, the pier is now practically useless, the Government will fulfil the promise of their predecessors, made March 10th, 1892, to make a further grant, and add 80 feet to present pier?

SIR J. T. HIBBERT

The available balance under the Fishery Piers Act of 1883 is already appropriated to other works, but as soon as these are finished and the amount accruing from repayments under the Act reaches a sum sufficient to warrant the commencement of the "cant" at the end of the Clogher Head Pier, alluded to in my predecessor's answer of the 10th March, 1892, that work will be proceeded with.
