HC Deb 20 February 1893 vol 8 c1860
MR. DONALD CRAWFORD (Lanark, N.E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether his attention has been drawn to the great destruction of property in the towns of Motherwell and Hamilton and the neighbourhood, caused by the owner of the land undermining the ground which he has given out for; and whether the Government will endeavour to remedy the evil by legislation?

*SIR G. TREVELYAN

My attention has not, that I remember, been officially called to the state of matters to which the hon. Member refers, but I have reason to believe that it causes great loss and inconvenience in the present, and anxiety as to the future. The Government will be very glad if the hon. Member can promote any remedial Bill, and will do their best to assist him.
