HC Deb 06 February 1893 vol 8 cc547-8
MR. EDWARD BARRY (Cork, S.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether he is aware that the old post office in Skibbereen, County Cork, was burned; and whether the present accommodation is inadequate and insufficient; and, if so, what steps will be taken to provide the place with suitable postal accommodation?

MR. A. MORLEY

I am aware that the post office at Skibbereen was burnt in May last, and, as stated by my Predecessor, in June last, the present temporary accommodation is admittedly inadequate. In May last the Town Commissioners proposed to erect suitable premises to be-rented by the Postmaster, and authority was obtained for raising the allowance for office rent to enable him to accept the offer. Difficulties, however, have arisen, and I understand that the Commissioners are to decide at a meeting to-day Whether they Will carry out their offer.
