HC Deb 08 December 1893 vol 19 c834
MR. A. J. BALFOUR (Manchester, E.)

It might be convenient to the House if the Government would make a statement as to Public Business, particularly in regard to the East India Loan Bill. I understand that the Government promised to adjourn the Debate on the Committee stage of the Parish Councils Bill for the purpose of making a statement, and that an opportunity for a reply would be given on a subsequent occasion, when the Bill would be made the first Order of the Day.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir W. HARCOURT,) Derby

That was not exactly the statement made. It was understood that a statement would be made, and that any discussion which might arise would be deferred to another day. It is proposed to report Progress on the Parish Councils Bill at 11 o'clock to-night for the purpose.
