§ SIR R. WEBSTER (Isle of Wight)May I , ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any and what steps have been taken towards publishing the Chronological Table of Statutes which was omitted from the last edition of the Index to the Statutes, printed for Her Majesty's Stationery Office, and as to which he promised to confer with the Statute Law Committee?
§ SIR J. T. HIBBERTSince my hon. and learned Friend's question was placed on the Paper, I have referred the matter to the Statute Law Committee, who met on Wednesday last and passed the following resolution:—
The Committee are of opinion that the chronological table is of great value, and for that reason had the table prepared for publication to the end of the Session of 1892, but in the face of the adverse opinion expressed by the Committee of Law Reporting, who had been previously the chief purchasers, it was not thought right to incur the expense of printing and publishing.Under these circumstances, I do not see my way to meet the wishes of my hon. and learned Friend.
§ SIR R. WEBSTERI shall take the earliest opportunity of raising this question on the Estimates.
