HC Deb 08 December 1893 vol 19 cc824-5
MR. KEIR-HARDIE

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Local Government Board whether he can inform the House what number of able-bodied paupers in. health were relieved by the Guardians of England and Wales on the first days of October and November this year?

SIR W. FOSTER

The weekly Returns of pauperism which the Local Government Board receive from the Boards of Guardians in England and Wales do not distinguish the number of able-bodied paupers in health, and I am therefore to give the information asked for by my hon. Friend in respect of the first days of October and November. The only days in respect of which the Board receive detailed particulars as to the numbers of paupers of different classes are the 1st January and the 1st July in each year.
