HC Deb 07 December 1893 vol 19 cc642-3
MR. BALDWIN (Worcester, Bewdley)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that the order for the public examination of Dr. W. E. Grigsby by the Official Receiver was made by the Court prior to the commencement of the legal Long Vacation in August last, and that Tuesday, the 12th instant, is appointed for such examination; and if he will state the date on which Dr. Grigsby's appointment was made, and upon what date Dr. Grigsby left England?

MR. S. BUXTON

Dr. Grigsby was offered the appointment on October 3, and he left for Cyprus on November 10. I have ascertained, on inquiry, that the official notification to attend before the Court was not issued until after his departure for Cyprus. As I have already stated, in reply to a former question, if and when Dr. Grigsby's presence is necessary in England, he will be required to attend; but I understand that it is proposed first to examine his co-Directors before requiring his attendance.
