HC Deb 05 December 1893 vol 19 cc477-8
MR. P. M'HUGH (Leitrim, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in drafting the terms of Reference for the proposed Select Committee on the working of the Land Law (Ireland) Acts, 1881 and 1887, he will include an inquiry into the condition and terms of tenure of glebe tenants in Ireland?

MR. BRYCE (for Mr. J. MORLEY)

It is not proposed to inquire into the conditions and terms of tenure of glebe or other tenants in Ireland. The inquiry will be directed to the actual principles and practice of the Land Commission in carrying out the Rent-fixing Clauses of the Land Acts of 1881 and 1887, and the Redemption of Rent Act of 1891.
