HC Deb 31 August 1893 vol 16 cc1565-6
MR. J. WILSON (Govan)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether he is aware that Mr. Robert Forrester, holding Her Majesty's Commission of the Peace for the County of Lanark, was convicted, on Friday the 25th instant, at the Glasgow Central Police Court, for assault and being under the influence of drink, and sentenced to pay a fine of two guineas or 14 days' imprisonment; and whether it is the intention of the Lord Chancellor to remove Mr. Forrester from the Commission of the Peace?

THE SECRETARY FOR SCOTLAND (Sir G. TREVELYAX,) Glasgow, Bridgeton

I regret to say that the Report I have received from the presiding Magistrate in regard to the case referred to is of a very unsatisfactory nature, and it will be necessary for me to lay it before the Lord Chancellor for his consideration.
