HC Deb 01 April 1892 vol 3 c477
MR. SCHWANN (Manchester, N.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether a few days' notice will be given before the Indian Councils Bill is taken in Committee?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I shall be glad to give as much notice as I can in reference to this Bill. As the hon. Gentleman is aware, it is not a Bill on which there is much difference of opinion. It is a Bill which it is very important we should pass as soon as possible into law; and I should, therefore, desire to take every chance of getting it through the preliminary stage.

MR. SCHWANN

Will the right hon. Gentleman take it after twelve o'clock to-night?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

We have no power to take it after twelve o'clock.
