HC Deb 11 May 1891 vol 353 c487
MR. LYELL (Orkney and Shetland)

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether the negotiations for an improved Mail Service of steamers to Shetland is concluded; and, if not, can he say what is the cause of the delay?

SIR C. PEARSON (for the LORD ADVOCATE)

I am informed by the Secretary for Scotland that the negotiations for an improved Mail Service to the Shetland Isles are still in progress, and it is hoped they may soon be brought to a conclusion; but the nature of the negotiations has not admitted of a more speedy decision being arrived at.
