HC Deb 25 June 1891 vol 354 cc1436-7
MR. WARDLE (Derbyshire, S.)

I beg to ask the Attorney General what steps Her Majesty's Government are about to take to ensure that the prayer books printed in future should conform to the original text fixed by the Act of Uniformity, as displayed in the "Photo-lithograph" published this year; and also to secure that in future the unauthorised alterations in the printed copies issued to the public, which were enumerated in the Report of Canterbury Convocation as long ago as 1868, should be discontinued, and the Act of Elizabeth be hereafter printed in full in every copy of the Prayer Book as prescribed by the Statute?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir R. WEBSTER,) Isle of Wight

I can only refer the hon. Member to my answer to a similar question reported in Hansard of April 24th, 1890. I am not aware of the alterations to which the hon. Member's question refers; but if he will kindly communicate with me I will make further inquiries into the matter.
