HC Deb 09 June 1891 vol 354 c24
MR. M. HEALY (Cork)

I beg to ask the Attorney General for Ireland whether he is aware that dock labourers employed in the coal and timber trades in Dublin very frequently have their wages paid in public houses; and whether this practice is legal?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. MADDEN,) Dublin University

I have ascertained that the law has been occasionally violated in the particulars referred to, and I have called the attention of the police authorities to the matter.
