HC Deb 08 June 1891 vol 353 c1829
MR. PIERCE MAHONY (Meath, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he has succeeded in obtaining the statue of the late Thomas Davis for the Science and Art Museum in Dublin; and, if not, whether he will take further steps to obtain it?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. JACKSON,) Leeds, N.

When the hon. Member put a question on this subject some time ago I understood that the statue was to be a voluntary gift. I now understand that that is not so, and that the statue, if obtained at all, must be purchased.
