HC Deb 08 June 1891 vol 353 c1829
MR. CONWAY (Leitrim, N.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether he is aware that residents in Drum-shambo, County Leitrim, suffer great loss and inconvenience by reason of not having a mid-day delivery of letters, particularly of letters from Belfast and the northern district; whether letters received in Carrick-on-Shannon by the mid-day post, and addressed to Drurn-shambo, are held over until next day; and whether he will consider the feasibility of making arrangements with the Cavan, Leitrim, and Roscommon Light Railway and Tramway Company, Limited, which has business connections with the Great Northern Railway at Belturbet, the Midland and Great Western Railway at Dromod, and with a branch from Ballinamore to Drumshambo, with a view to the carriage of the local mail bags, and the prompt delivery of letters?

MR. RAIKES

My attention has been called to this matter, and inquiry is now being made with the view, if possible, of providing for a day mail service to Drumshambo. I will let the hon. Member know the decision without delay.
