§ MR. GOSCHENYes, Sir. I have practically concluded the inquiry, and I am now engaged upon a Minute dealing with its results, which I hope to issue before long. I may say that the inquiry has been very protracted, owing to my desire to examine thoroughly the very numerous and difficult questions connected with the complicated organisation of a large service dispersed throughout the United Kingdom, and presenting many local differences of remuneration and conditions of work.
