HC Deb 13 May 1890 vol 344 c818
MR. ILLINGWORTH) (Bradford, W.

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the statement in the Standard of yesterday is correct, namely, that the German Government has received information that England has determined to defer for the present the carrying out of the Sugar Convention?

*THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir J. FER-GUSSON,) Manchester, N.E.

The Standard said that a rumour to this effect was current at Magdeburg. Her Majesty's Government are not aware of any such information having been received by the German Government.
