§ MR. CUNINGHAME GRAHAMI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make inquiries about the alleged tearing up of a Petition from the police constables at Hunter Street Station, by Sub-Divisional Inspector Wakeford; and if the police are denied the right of petition?
§ *MR. MATTHEWSI have made inquiry into this matter, and am informed by the Commissioner that no Petition was torn up by Inspector Wakeford. Two report forms, to which it is believed no signatures were attached, were accidently torn by the act of a police constable. The police are not denied the right of petition. Permission has been given to obtain the signatures of the men at the Hunter Street and other stations to such Petitions as they think fit to adopt.
