HC Deb 24 April 1890 vol 343 c1285
MR. CUNINGHAME GRAHAM

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he can now promise a day for the discussion of the Eight Hours Bill for Miners?

*MR. W. H. SMITH

I understand that an Bight Hoars Bill is in charge of some Member on the other side of the House, and I hope he will find an opportunity of securing a discussion on this question in the House before the end of the Session. But I am not able at present to undertake to give it any Government time.

*MR. C. GRAHAM

I should like to ask whether the right hon. Gentleman is aware that the day on which this Bill was put down has already passed, and whether, as the Bill excites great interest in the mining community, he will re-consider his decision?

*MR. W. H. SMITH

I know the mining community of Great Britain take an interest in this question; but there are other questions in which the community at large take a deep interest, and I am not able to make an exception in favour of this particular Bill at the present time.
