§ THE SECRETARY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. LONG,) Wilts, DevizesThe payments which up to the present time have been made to or on behalf of the Counties and County Boroughs in England and Wales, in respect of the financial year ended 31st March last, have been as follows: From Local Taxation Licences, £2,917,833; from Probate Duty, £1, 668,779. Further payments will be made, which it is estimated will amount to £203,388; making together a total of £4,790,000. The Local Government Board will not be in a position to make the final payments until they have been informed by the Inland Revenue Commissioners of the actual amount received from the licences collected in the several Counties and County Boroughs, and the precise amount of the Probate Duty. Immediately that the final payments have been made, I shall be prepared to lay a statement on the Table of the House, giving the particulars desired.
