HC Deb 26 February 1889 vol 333 cc371-2
SIR J. LUBBOCK (London University)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of Exchequer, with reference to the announcement in the Queen's Speech as regards Consols and Reduced, whether it is proposed to convert the whole at the expiration of the notice—namely, on the 6th of July; or, if not, what course it is intended to pursue?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

Yes, Sir; it is the intention of the Government that the whole amount of Three per Cent. Consols and Reduced outstanding shall either be paid off or converted at the expiration of the notice.
