asked the First Lord of the Treasury whether he was now prepared to state the intentions of the Government with reference to the promised Committee on Royal Grants?

It is the intention of the Government to ask the House to appoint a Committee to consider the practice of this House in the past in respect of secondary grants to Members of the Royal Family, to use the language of the right hon. Member for Mid-Lothian when submitting the grant for Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice. I will take care that ample notice shall be given of the terms of the Reference to the proposed Committee.
