HC Deb 16 April 1889 vol 335 c599
MR. WALTER M'LAREN

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the officials at Etshowe have refused to arrest Zibebu, who is now recovered from his accident; and whether the Government are aware that, while Ndabuko and Dinuzulu have throughout been kept in close imprisonment, Zibebu has been, and still is, left perfectly free to ride about the country, and consort with the officials at Etshowe as a favoured person, although charged with the murder of the Chief Msutshwana, in a raid which the Zulu Chiefs now on trial point to as the cause of their taking up arms against Zibebu?

BARON H. DE WORMS

The Governor, on the 4th of February, reported that Zibebu was kept in arrest at Etshowe. The Secretary of State has no information confirmatory of the suggestions contained in the hon. Member's question.
