HC Deb 01 April 1889 vol 334 c1229
MR. CHANNING (Northamptonshire, E.)

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Her Majesty's Government had come to any decision as to the termination of Sir F. Napier Broome's appointment as Governor of Western Australia at the close of his six years of office in June next?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Baron HENRY DE WORMS,) Liverpool, Toxteth

Her Majesty's Government do not intend to advise the Queen to extend Sir F. Napier Broome's term of employment as Governor of Western Australia for any definite period, but he may have to remain there for some time beyond the 2nd June next, if his successor cannot arrive by that date.
