HC Deb 07 August 1888 vol 329 c1838
MR. O'HANLON (Cavan, E.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether it is a fact that some London policemen have been so engaged for the last six weeks that they have not got to their several churches for that period; and, if so, whether he will call the attention of the Chief Commissioner to the grievance complained of?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

I am informed by the Commissioner of Police that he is not aware of any such cases having occurred. If the hon. Member will give me particulars I will have further inquiry made.

MR. O'HANLON

Will the right hon. Gentleman guarantee that the policemen shall not be dismissed?

MR. MATTHEWS

They shall not be dismissed for mentioning any such grievance as that referred to by the hon. Member.
