REYNOLDS (Tyrone, E.)asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether the Irish Land Commission are taking proceedings in a large number of cases against glebe purchasers under the Irish Church Act for the purpose of foreclosing the mortgages held by the Commission for the instalments of purchase money; and, if so, whether he will state in how many cases such proceedings are pending?
§ THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Sir MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH) (Bristol, W.), in reply, said, that the Irish Land Commissioners had informed him that there were 47 cases in which such proceedings had been taken as the hon. Member referred to.
