§ MR. CUNNINGHAME GRAHAM (Lanark, N.W.)asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he will so amend the new Mines Bill now before the House as to provide that when a candidate makes a pass equal to 60 per cent of the total required the whole of the examination fee of £2 shall be returned to the candidate?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)The cost to the public of the Boards of Examination amounted last year to over £1,200, while the examination fees only produced £610. Under the circumstances, I regret that I cannot recommend any remission of fees.
