HC Deb 05 April 1887 vol 313 c485
MR. HAYDEN (Leitrim, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether Major Crofton, of Mohill Castle, in reference to whom a notice recently appeared in The Dublin Gazette, still retains, and will be continued in, the Commission of the Peace for the County of Leitrim?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

Under the circumstances mentioned, Major Crofton has, by statute, become disqualified from acting as a magistrate; and, consequently, his name will not be retained in the Commission of the Peace. The usual notice has been sent to him by the Lord Chancellor.
