asked the Postmaster General, How often and in what periods during the last six years has telegraphic communication between the United Kingdom and the Australasian Colonies been solely dependent upon telegraph lines through Russia?

(who replied) said: I am informed that during the last six years on one occasion only—namely, between the 7th and 16th of the present month—has telegraphic communication between the United Kingdom and the Australasian Colonies been dependent solely upon the telegraphic line through Russia.
