HC Deb 03 June 1886 vol 306 cc828-9
GENERAL SIR WILLIAM CROSSMAN (Portsmouth)

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, Whether it is intended to establish a coaling station for Her Majesty's Navy in the West Indies at the port of Castries in the Island of St. Lucia?

THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. HIBBERT) (Oldham)

In reply to the hon. and gallant Member, I have to say that there is no intention of establishing a naval coal depôt at St. Lucia. A local contract is in force there for the supply of coal to Her Majesty's ships.
