§ MR. DEASY (Mayo, W.)asked the Secretary to the Treasury, If he will state what is the maximum and minimum scale of remuneration of rural postmen in England and Ireland respectively?
§ THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. HENRY H. FOWLER) (Wolverhampton, E.)The wages of rural 729 postmen in England and Ireland are regulated generally according to the rate of operative wages in each district. Thus, in some parts of England, Scotland, and also of Ireland, rural postmen are paid wages of 17s. to 18s. a-week. In other parts the postmen's wages vary according to the cost of labour, 12s. a-week being the minimum payment in England and 10s. in Ireland.
