HC Deb 04 May 1885 vol 297 cc1482-3
MR. O'SHEA

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether, having regard to the important interests confided to the Irish Commissioners of Fisheries, Her Majesty's Government, in the probable case of a vacancy in the Commission, will take into consideration as a factor of efficiency in the candidates for the appoint- ment, some knowledge of fisheries and of the habits of fish and fishermen?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

I have no doubt that, in the event of a vacancy, due weight would be given to the qualifications mentioned by the hon. Member.
