HC Deb 13 November 1884 vol 293 cc1583-4
MR. DICK-PEDDIE

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, If he will state whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to give effect to all or any of the recommendations of the Royal Commission on the West Indies?

MR. EVELYN ASHLEY

No doubt, a considerable number of the recommendations of the Royal Commission will be adopted; but no definite answer can yet be given to the Question, as there are many matters still pending, such as confederation of the Islands and reciprocal tariff relations with the United States, which must be settled before a final determination can be arrived at.
