§ MR. WHITLEYasked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether he will print and circulate among the Members of this House, the statement of all ships lost during the year 1883, together with the amount of insurance effected in shipping freight and cargo respectively, as furnished to him by the Committee of Lloyd's?
§ MR. J. HOLMSSir, the statement in question is, I assume, a Return of ships reported to Lloyd's as lost during the year 1883, with various particulars as to insurance and other matters. It is given by Lloyd's Committee to the Board to be used by them as confidential, and cannot be published without the consent of Lloyd's Committee. It is as yet far from complete, and from the cursory examination the Board of Trade have been able to give to the parts of it submitted to them it will need much examination and correspondence before it is in a complete state.
