HC Deb 20 June 1884 vol 289 c995
MR. LEAHY (for Mr. O'SULLIVAN)

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, If he is aware that parties looking for loans in Ireland under the Land Act of 1881 are often detained from three to five months after the preliminaries are complied with before they get the first instalment of their loan; and, if so, will he take any steps to facilitate the proceedings in such cases?

MR. COURTNEY

, in reply, said, he was informed that there were very few, if any, cases of delay in the working of this scheme. Those which occurred were the fault of the applicants themselves. Great difficulty was experienced in getting forms of application properly filled up and worked out.
