HC Deb 30 March 1883 vol 277 c1116
SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether he is now able to state in what way Her Majesty's Government propose to render adequate provision for the Bechuana Chiefs?

MR. EVELYN ASHLEY

Sir, I am not ye tin a position to make the statement asked for by the right lion. Gentleman. To begin with, we are not yet in possession of information as to how far the two Chiefs in question—namely, Montsioa and Mankoroane may desire to avail themselves of any offer that might be made to them.

SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH

said, he would repeat the Question another day.
