GORSTasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office, Whether it is true that a piece of open ground on the Military Road, in the middle of the town of Chatham, has been offered by the Military authorities to public tender for the grazing of cattle and sheep; and, whether, in consideration of the nuisance which such a use of the ground will occasion to the inhabitants, Her Majesty's Government will direct this piece of land to be devoted to some other purpose?
MR. BRANDPublic tenders have been called for; but I have given instructions that they shall be submitted to the War Office, and not be dealt with locally. The question of the appropriation of the land to other purposes will be considered.
