HC Deb 02 July 1883 vol 281 cc36-7
MAJOR CURZON

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether the Resident at Khota, in Rajpootana, did adjudicate upon a civil case, touching personal property of the value of £30,000 or thereabouts, in favour of one Chotalal Tribhonandass; whether the said case was subsequently tried by a Native Court, and the judgment of the Resident at Khota reversed; whether Mr. Kavanagh, counsel for Chotalal Tribhonandass, petitioned the Indian Government to have the case heard on appeal by an English Court; and, whether the Resident at Khota is still in possession of the property, and that the Government of India has declined to interfere in the matter?

MR. J. K. CROSS

Sir, the case in question appears to be an ordinary civil suit, and information in regard to such cases is not sent home by the Indian Government.
