SMITHasked the First Lord of the Treasury, If Her Majesty's Government will exert their influence with the Sublime Porte to obtain permission for the agents of the British Museum to continue the researches at Sipparà, the ancient Sepharraim, from which most valuable records relating to ancient history have already been obtained, and are deposited in the British Museum? The right hon. Gentleman said, he would point out that hitherto the representatives of the Museum had been unsuccessful; and he trusted the urgency of the representations made by the Government would be successful.
