HC Deb 26 June 1882 vol 271 c388
MR. J. G. TALBOT

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether his attention has been called to a Report from the Managers of the Metropolitan Asylums District, from which it appears that a patient named John Tynn, who was admitted into the Stock well Hospital on the 17th of May, stated "that he had attended at Guy's Hospital the same morning, and was told that he had smallpox;" whether it is true that the man came in a Clap-ham omnibus from London Bridge to Stock well with the smallpox eruption fully out upon his face; and, whether, if this be true, he will communicate with the authorities of Guy's Hospital, with a view to prevent so reckless a neglect of ordinary precautions against the spread of infection?

MR. DODSON

Sir, my attention has been called to the report made to the Managers of the Metropolitan Asylums District with respect to this case, and the Local Government Board are now in communication with the authorities of Guy's Hospital on the subject. There does not seem to be any question that the man went in a Clap-ham omnibus to the hospital; but how he came to be so conveyed I have not yet ascertained.

MR. J. G. TALBOT

gave Notice that another day he should ask the right Gentleman whether he could suggest any precautions that would prevent the repetition of such an act?
